The lite facebook has been released. It introduced an alternate front door for the social network called “Facebook Lite,” a slimmed-down version of the site, optimized for those with slower Internet connections. Facebook Lite features a serious design revamp and is available only to users based in the U.S. and in India.

Facebook Lite brings a simplified, faster-loading experience in comparison to the traditional site. Part of the new Facebook Lite design, the news feed includes a simple top toolbar and buttons for posting status updates and media uploads. Facebook Lite can be accessed by visiting www.lite.facebook.com.

The profile page on Facebook Lite removes many of the bells and whistles from the traditional version and keeps only the basics: your wall, info, friends, and photos and videos. The status and sharing interface is unchanged; however, you can’t view wall-to-wall posts or invite friends to an event.

The most notable omissions from the new Facebook Lite interface are the third-party applications. Only a handful of Facebook’s own applications are available, so that you can get a reasonable experience from the site. Other changes include birthdays and contacts moved at the top of the feed and real-time updates at the bottom of the page.

Facebook Lite was initially available as a beta test with a limited number of users in August. It is yet unknown when or whether the Facebook Lite interface will be available to users outside the U.S. and India.

The introduction of Facebook Lite is widely seen as stab at Twitter’s simple interface, which is focused more on messaging and status sharing in real time. To better compete with Twitter’s surge in popularity, Facebook has already introduced real-time updates to the news feed and acquired rival FriendFeed.

Facebook Lite is poised to be a game-changer for the social networking dynamo, considering how it brings Facebook not only to low-bandwidth users but also attracts potential Facebook users who don’t want all the main platform’s bells and whistles. The only question to Facebook now is, why’d it take so long to, well, let there be Lite?

Facebook Lite, which went live on Thursday in both the U.S. and India has been in beta test for about a month. In mid-August, Facebook mistakenly sent out what its representatives said were too many invitations to test the service, which in look and feel is a bit like Facebook’s mobile version and limits functions to comments, writing on users’ walls, looking at photos and confirming friend requests.

At the time of its leak, we thought it strange that Facebook wouldn’t be forthcoming with a version that opens it up to so many untapped customers, and our opinion hasn’t changed. Why would Facebook wait on Lite when so many of its social networking competitors — including, yes, Twitter — are growing based on the no-frills ease-of-use of their platforms?

It’s hard to say who’s “winning” the social networking wars, as much as how to “win” them. Sure, Facebook trampled over once-mighty rivals like MySpace and both Facebook and Twitter have posted impressive growth. To be sure, Facebook Lite will only accelerate that growth, as it’ll theoretically attract curious users who don’t already use Facebook on a daily basis or have yet to dabble on the social network.

The takeaway, however, is versatility: give users as many options as possible, while keeping them on a single platform. Facebook’s certainly demonstrated as much, if this year’s redesigns, its recent acquisition of FriendFeed, and now Facebook Lite are any indication.

And it’s worth noting, of course, that Facebook users can also tag friends’ updates using the “@” symbol — another tweak that broadens the social network’s appeal and gives it a counterpoint to (or, in this case, an exact copy of) attractive Twitter features.

“Friends you tag in your status updates will receive a notification and a Wall post linking them to your post,” wrote Facebook engineer Tom Occhino on the Facebook Blog Thursday.

Staying ahead in social networking seems to mean having all bases covered — is there a Twitter or MySpace trick out there that Facebook has yet to try, to? Drop a note in the ChannelWeb Connect community and let us know.

I’ve got a comment from a user asking me how to remove Brontok virus. Brontok virus is from Indonesia and I’ve seen this virus infected on a computer before and it prevents you from running Registry Editor. Most obvious way to know that you’ve been infected by Brontok virus is when your computer starts up, you’ll get an error messsage saying that it is unable to locate the file “Kesenjangan Sosial.exe“.

Here’s how to remove Brontok virus.

Found a lot of free removal tools you can use to easily remove Brontok virus.
1. CompactbyteAV
2. GData Anti…Worm
3. Sophos BRONTGUI
4. Kaspersky Brontok Removal Tool
5. BitDefender Brontok Removal Tool
6. Brontok Washer(Most Effective against Brontok Virus)
7. OgAV
Choose to run either one to clean Brontok virus from your system. If you have the time, you can run all of them but not at the same time. Do it one by one just to be 100% sure that Brontok virus is completely removed.
September 19, 2007 Update: Brontok Washer link has been updated. It is one of the most effective Brontok virus cleaner. However, Symantec will flag Brontok Washer as “brontok virus” itself. There is also one Brontok virus variant that will automatically stop Brontok Washer from being run in Windows normal mode. Make sure you run Brontok Washer in Windows Safe Mode.
8. And last one and the best is AVG free antivirus…

Try and good luck

These are antiviruses i have tested…. Check it out..!!!!

Virus protection is serious business these days. All it takes is one password stealing virus to compromise your bank accounts and other financial accounts and leave you open for identity theft. That is why you need the best antivirus software for your computer. The good news is that the best antivirus software is free for home use and as good as any antivirus you can buy.

Why do these companies give away the best antivirus free? They all have pro versions with more features that they would like you to buy.

All three programs offer Windows versions. Avast is the only one of the three products that has a version for Macs.

1. Avast Home Edition Free Antivirus
I have to crown Avast as the overall best free antivirus for, among other reasons, having excellent virus and spyware detection rates according to antivirus test results from AV-Test.org.
Avast antivirus manages to provide a simple and functional user interface, while also being very customizable and feature complete. The active protection feature monitors seven different ways that a virus could enter your computer, including Web browsing, email, file sharing, and more.

Avast also features scanning on boot up if you choose to do so. That’s something you don’t want to do on every boot as it takes quite a while. However, if you suspect you have been exposed to a virus or spyware it is the best way to detect and remove active infections.

Publisher’s Site
2. Avira Personal Free Antivirus
Avira is another one of the best free antivirus products, but it is not as full featured as Avast. The free version of Avira doesn’t claim to protect against spyware, but I believe there is some crossover between what is defined as a virus and as spyware. If you want to make sure you are covered for spyware you can use something like SuperAntiSpyware which also has a free version.
Avira has an attractive interface, but it needed more tweaking to get things to function the way I wanted than did Avast. According to AV-Test.org Avira rates slightly higher than Avast for virus detection. However, if the spyware tests were run on the free version of Avira the score would be very low since they reserve the antispyware feature for the paid version.

Publisher’s Site
3. AVG Antivirus Free Edition
AVG is the most popular and one of the best free antivirus software products. AVG has a very polished user interface and is easy and comfortable to use. AVG detects both viruses and spyware in the free edition. However, in the test mentioned above the detection rate is a little lower than Avast or Avira.
The main thing that puts AVG last in my choices for best free antivirus is the amount of functionality left out of the free version verses the the paid version of the software. You still get good basic protection, but Avast and Avari cover more of the infection pathways than does AVG.

All three of these best free antivirus choices can be easily installed and uninstalled. You can feel free to try all of them to choose your favorite.

If you are having sleep problems, whether you are not able to fall asleep, wake up too often, don’t feel well-rested when you wake up in the morning, or simply want to improve the quality and quantity of your sleep, try as many of the following techniques below as possible:

My current favorite for insomnia is Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT). Most people can learn this gentle tapping technique in several minutes.

EFT can help balance your body’s bioenergy system and resolve some of the emotional stresses that are contributing to the insomnia at a very deep level. The results are typically long lasting and the improvement is remarkably rapid.

Listen to white noise or relaxation CDs. Some people find the sound of white noise or nature sounds, such as the ocean or forest, to be soothing for sleep. An excellent relaxation/meditation option to listen to before bed is the Insight audio CD.

Avoid before-bed snacks, particularly grains and sugars. This will raise blood sugar and inhibit sleep. Later, when blood sugar drops too low (hypoglycemia), you might wake up and not be able to fall back asleep.

Sleep in complete darkness or as close as possible. If there is even the tiniest bit of light in the room it can disrupt your circadian rhythm and your pineal gland’s production of melatonin and seratonin. There also should be as little light in the bathroom as possible if you get up in the middle of the night. Please whatever you do, keep the light off when you go to the bathroom at night. As soon as you turn on that light you will for that night immediately cease all production of the important sleep aid melatonin.

No TV right before bed. Even better, get the TV out of the bedroom or even out of the house, completely. It is too stimulating to the brain and it will take longer to fall asleep. Also disruptive of pineal gland function for the same reason as above.

Wear socks to bed. Due to the fact that they have the poorest circulation, the feet often feel cold before the rest of the body. A study has shown that this reduces night wakings (Click Here).

Read something spiritual or religious. This will help to relax. Don’t read anything stimulating, such as a mystery or suspense novel, as this may have the opposite effect. In addition, if you are really enjoying a suspenseful book, you might wind up unintentionally reading for hours, instead of going to sleep.

The Sun Alarm™ SA-2002 , which I personally use, is a natural way to wake up in the morning. I highly recommended it as an alternative to loud alarm clocks. Read More Now!
Avoid using loud alarm clocks. It is very stressful on the body to be awoken suddenly. If you are regularly getting enough sleep, they should be unnecessary. I gave up my alarm clock years ago and now use a sun alarm clock. The Sun Alarm™ SA-2002 provides an ideal way to wake up each morning if you can’t wake up with the REAL sun. Combining the features of a traditional alarm clock (digital display, AM/FM radio, beeper, snooze button, etc) with a special built-in light that gradually increases in intensity, this amazing clock simulates a natural sunrise. It also includes a sunset feature where the light fades to darkness over time – ideal for anyone who has trouble falling asleep.

Journaling. If you often lay in bed with your mind racing, it might be helpful keep a journal and write down your thoughts before bed. Personally, I have been doing this for 15 years, but prefer to do it in the morning when my brain is functioning at its peak and my coritsol levels are high (CLICK HERE)

Melatonin and its precursors. If behavioral changes do not work, it may be possible to improve sleep by supplementing with the hormone melatonin. Ideally it is best to increase levels naturally with exposure to bright sunlight in the daytime (along with full spectrum fluorescent bulbs in the winter) and absolute complete darkness at night. One should get blackout drapes so no light is coming in from the outside. One can also use one of melatonin’s precursors, L-tryptophan or 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP). L-tryptophan is obtainable by prescription only. However, don’t be afraid or intimidated by its prescription status. It is just a simple amino acid.

Get to bed as early as possible. Our systems, particularly the adrenals, do a majority of their recharging or recovering during the hours of 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. In addition, your gallbladder dumps toxins during this same period. If you are awake, the toxins back up into the liver which then secondarily back up into your entire system and cause further disruption of your health. Prior to the widespread use of electricity, people would go to bed shortly after sundown, as most animals do, and which nature intended for humans as well.

Check your bedroom for electro-magnetic fields (EMFs). These can disrupt the pineal gland and the production of melatonin and seratonin, and may have other negative effects as well. To purchase a gauss meter to measure EMFs try Cutcat at 800-497-9516. They have a model for around $40. One doctor even recommends that people pull their circuit breaker before bed to kill all power in the house (Dr. Herbert Ross, author of “Sleep Disorders”).

Keep the temperature in the bedroom no higher than 70 degrees F. Many people keep their homes and particularly the upstairs bedrooms too hot.

Eat a high-protein snack several hours before bed. This can provide the L-tryptophan need to produce melatonin and serotonin.

Also eat a small piece of fruit. This can help the tryptophan cross the blood-brain barrier.

Reduce or avoid as many drugs as possible. Many medications, both prescription and over-the-counter may have effects on sleep. In most cases, the condition, which caused the drugs to be taken in the first place, can be addressed by following the guidelines elsewhere on this web site.

Avoid caffeine. A recent study showed that in some people, caffeine is not metabolized efficiently and therefore they can feel the effects long after consuming it. So an afternoon cup of coffee (or even tea) will keep some people from falling asleep. Also, some medications, particularly diet pills contain caffeine.

Alarm clocks and other electrical devices. If these devices must be used, keep them as far away from the bed as possible, preferably at least 3 feet.

Avoid alcohol. Although alcohol will make people drowsy, the effect is short lived and people will often wake up several hours later, unable to fall back asleep. Alcohol will also keep you from falling into the deeper stages of sleep, where the body does most of its healing.

Lose weight. Being overweight can increase the risk of sleep apnea, which will prevent a restful nights sleep. CLICK HERE for my diet recommendations.

Avoid foods that you may be sensitive to. This is particularly true for dairy and wheat products, as they may have effect on sleep, such as causing apnea, excess congestion, gastrointestinal upset, and gas, among others.

Don’t drink any fluids within 2 hours of going to bed. This will reduce the likelihood of needing to get up and go to the bathroom or at least minimize the frequency.

Take a hot bath, shower or sauna before bed. When body temperature is raised in the late evening, it will fall at bedtime, facilitating sleep,

Remove the clock from view. It will only add to your worry when constantly staring at it… 2 a.m. …3 a.m. … 4:30 a.m. …

Keep your bed for sleeping. If you are used to watching TV or doing work in bed, you may find it harder to relax and to think of the bed as a place to sleep.

Have your adrenals checked by a good natural medicine clinician. Scientists have found that insomnia may be caused by adrenal stress (Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, August 2001; 86:3787-3794).

If you are menopausal or perimenopausal, get checked out by a good natural medicine physician. The hormonal changes at this time may cause problems if not properly addressed.

Don’t change your bedtime. You should go to bed, and wake up, at the same times each day, even on the weekends. This will help your body to get into a sleep rhythm and make it easier to fall asleep and get up in the morning.

Make certain you are exercising regularly. Exercising for at least 30 minutes everyday can help you fall asleep. However, don’t exercise too close to bedtime or it may keep you awake. Studies show exercising in the morning is the best if you can do it.

Establish a bedtime routine. This could include meditation, deep breathing, using aromatherapy or essential oils or indulging in a massage from your partner. The key is to find something that makes you feel relaxed, then repeat it each night to help you release the day’s tensions.
Go to the bathroom right before bed. This will reduce the chances that you’ll wake up to go in the middle of the night.
Wear an eye mask to block out light. As said above, it is very important to sleep in as close to complete darkness as possible. That said, it’s not always easy to block out every stream of light using curtains, blinds or drapes, particularly if you live in an urban area (or if your spouse has a different schedule than you do). In these cases, an eye mask can help to block out the remaining light.

And have a good sleep…
One blog a day, keep one problem away!!!!

How To Set Up Google AdSense Video Units Via YouTube

Yesterday I wrote about the launch of Google AdSense video units, but like I said, no one with an AdSense account was able to use the feature yet. As of last night that changed.

Here is a how to, on setting up Google AdSense Video Units via YouTube.

Step 1: Go to your AdSense Set Up Page and click on the YouTube (Video Units) option as pointed out in the image below:

Step 2: Agree to legal disclaimer (first time only):

Step 3: Confirm your AdSense account with YouTube (first time only). You are taken to YouTube after you agree to the disclaimer. This is where you plugin your AdSense account information, so YouTube and AdSense can communicate.

Step 4: When that is done, it should tell you they have associated your account with YouTube.

Step 5: Then you set up your first player. You define the player name and description, the layout and the colors also.

Step 6: Define the content matching options. You can let Google figure out your content and provide relevant video ads, or you can help with hints or by specifying the content you want on your site.

Step 7:Then you just click the generate ad code:

Paste the code into your page, like I did here below and you should see an add related to search stuff.

The next time you go to your Google AdSense set up page and click on video units, you will be taken to a page that shows you your old units and gives you the ability to create new ones or remove old ones.

That pretty much is the detailed walk through of how to set up Google AdSense Video Units for the first time.

Do you want to put adsense in wordpress, ceck this out!

WordPress has a quite easy to use template system, trust me I’ve tried many popular blog CMS’s and WordPress is by far the easiest to use.

There’s two ways to edit a template, via the built in template editor or in a HTML editor. I use a HTML editor (just a basic text editor not unlike Notepad) for major template work and the built in editor for small changes. I prefer using a offline text editor since you can easily backup your work as you go along, not as easy with the online theme editor.

I’ll only deal with the WordPress built in editor for this post since explaining FTP etc… is too much for one post.

So log in to your WordPress blogs Dashboard and on the left menu click the Appearance link, followed by the Editor link which will appear below.

You should see a page like this in WordPress 2.8
WordPress 2.8 Theme Editor

You can see from WordPress post pages like AdSense Revenue there are multiple Google AdSense Ads on the page. You should be aware at this point you can only use three ad blocks per page (you might find Make the most of your ad units helpful). This makes adding the AdSense code a little trickier than if you could add unlimited ad blocks, but with a little thought it’s possible.

So three AdSense for content ad blocks is what we are aiming for, to achieve this I added one Wide Skyscraper (160 x 600) ad block to the side menu, one Square (250 x 250) ad block and one Banner (468 x 60) ad block to the content to WordPress posts.
Adding AdSense Ads to the Menu (non widget)

If you use widgets skip to the next section. If you don’t use widgets I strongly advise learning about them, you can build your menus exactly how you want them without having to edit the template files.

Using the WordPress Theme Editor open the file Sidebar (sidebar.php). The actual code will vary depending upon which template you are using, this is for the WordPress theme Almost Spring, but will be relevant for most themes.

You will see code like this-

‘ . __(‘Pages’) . ” ); ?>

< ?php _e(‘Archives’); ?>

The simplest way to add your AdSense block is to insert it near the top-

//

< ?php wp_get_archives(‘type=monthly’); ?>

< ?php wp_list_pages(‘title_li=

‘ . __(‘Pages’) . ” ); ?>

< ?php _e(‘Archives’); ?>

Note: You’ll need to replace my google_ad_client with your code otherwise I’ll be paid for all your AdSense clicks!

This would put the AdSense ad right at the top of the menu. You can see from this blog it’s possible to put the ad block lower on the menu, I have it between Categories and Archives. So feel free to experiment with it’s placement.

You may find wrapping the AdSense code in a div helpful since you can then add padding etc…-

//

You can then edit the div’s style to match your sites positioning by adding more or less padding, the above code gives 5 pixel of padding around the entire AdSense block, padding is very useful when your Ad block doesn’t quite line in with the rest of the menu (try 10 for all values to see what it looks like).

When complete click the Update File button within the Theme Editor and all your pages will now have a Wide Skyscraper (160×600) AdSense ad on the side menu.

If you find the file won’t save (if you see the message “If this file were writable you could edit it.” where the Update File button should be) you will have to change the files write permission (needs to be 666). To do this access your site via FTP and navigate to /wp-content/themes/YOUR-THEME/ now select all files in the directory and change permission to 666 (it will probably be 644). You can find more info about this at WordPress support forums.
Adding AdSense Ads to the Menu Via a Widget)

I have to admit since I only use my own AdSense themes I’ve always built the sort of AdSense widget I’m about to describe below directly into the themes code via the functions.php file which is a completely different process. So this is the first time I’ve made a AdSense widget like this (learn something new everyday )

Log into your WordPress Dashboard, click “Appearance” on the left menu followed by “Widgets”.

On the Widgets page you’ll see a list of widgets, near the bottom is one called “Text” with an “Add” link to the side of it and the description “Arbitrary text or HTML”.

Click the “Add” link.

On the right side of the page a new Widget called Text will appear.

You are supposed to click the “edit” link to the side of this, but on my theme (which has custom widgets) I had to click the “Save Changes” button first before being able to edit the text widget. So if you have problems, save changes as you go along.

Click the “Edit” link next to the Text widget.

In the new form that opens paste the following:

In the single line box name the widget something like “Adverts” : note this will be used as the menu heading, you see this on your blog, if you just want the AdSense ad unit with no menu heading leave this box blank.

In the large second box add

//

Don’t forget to change the google_ad_client = “pub-8325072546567078″; to use your pub code.

You might need to play around with the padding numbers, currently all set at 5px, if you find you need more padding on the left change padding-left:5px; to padding-left:10px; and see how it looks….

Should look something like this-
WordPress 2.8 AdSense widget

I originally called the widget “AdSense Widget” until realising this was used as the menu heading on the blog!

Click the “Done” button followed by the “Save Changes” button and your new AdSense widget will be live. If you aren’t familiar with widgets and this is your 1st use of widgets you’ll only have the AdSense ad unit on your sidebar menu.

On the widgets page click the “Add” links next to the menu widgets you want to show on your blog. Just add them one at a time until you have the menu you desire then click the “Save Changes” button and the new menu will go live.

And that’s how you add AdSense to your menu using a widget.
Adding AdSense Ads Within the Content of Posts

Now we come to the tricky part, we want individual post pages (like this one) to have an AdSense ad within the content (will result in more clicks = more revenue), but we can’t have 10 AdSense ads on every archive and similar pages.

Fortunately WordPress templates have a file called Single Post (single.php) load it into the theme editor and you should see something like this-

Add the AdSense code for a Square (250 x 250) ad block as follows (note the div with the float right styling, this is important).

//

When the file is updated all your WordPress single post pages will have a square AdSense ad floating to the right of the posts content, but the same posts on archive and similar pages will have no ad block. This ad will most likely generate most income because it’s in a hot click area (see AdSense Heat Map).

That leaves the third and final AdSense ad block which I’ve added just above the comment area of the blog page. To add this we again edit Single Post (single.php) using the WordPress built in theme editor.

Add the AdSense code for a Banner (468 x 60) ad block as follows.

//

With the WordPress theme I use (Almost Spring) this ad block just fits. If you find there isn’t enough room try a smaller width ad. You might have to add a div with center text align to make it look right.

This last ad block will probably be low click thru because of it’s location.

And there you have it three Google AdSense ad blocks added to a WordPress blog. If you use my technique and want to say thanks link to this page (or the home page) from your blog. Also feel free to add a comment below, love to see others using my ideas.

We’ve decided to standardize the WordPress For iPhone application on the new OS 3.0 going forward. We’ve seen a large percentage of users upgrading to 3.0, as have other apps, and there are new features we want to focus on which are OS 3.0 specific. Overall, it seems like a good time to make the switch.

For those of you who wish to stay on an earlier version of the OS, be sure to grab a copy of the current version in the app store (1.3) and you’ll be able to continue using that version on early OS versions for you iPhone or iPod Touch.

We’ll also be posting details about an upcoming beta test of 1.4 this week with the updated UI and a slew of behind the scenes updates that should greatly improve the app in terms of speed and compatibility.
